Trouble In Wizkid’s Paradise Over Terri #Wizkid

Nigeria’s Starboy, Wizkid, undoubtedly has one of the biggest and most loyal fanbases in Africa. In fact, to many of them, being a wizkid FC member is an achievement to be totally proud of.

Most times, when they engage in a war of words online, it is usually against the fan base of his close rival, Davido. Oh Well, Wizkid FC is at war again, but this time, it is an internal one.

A faction of Wizkid FC is protesting that the music icon has abandoned one of his promising signees, Terri, and he now promotes Naira Marley, Fireboy, Joeboy, and Oxlade who are not even signed to his record label. So, they are advising Terri to leave Starboy Entertainment, and pitch his tent elsewhere.

The pro-Terri Wizkid fans also pointed out that the challenge Terri is facing is a record label problem, as he does his bit in singing the best songs out there. Lyrically he is sound, but when it comes to the promotion strategy, his team never fails to disappoint him. In fact, Terri’s songs are usually released about the same time as Wizkid’s, and as expected, Wizzy’s songs make that of Terri irrelevant.

Shortly after Terri dropped his single, ‘Bia’, Wizkid dropped ‘Fever’, and the controversy around ‘Fever’ stole every bit of attention from Terri’s ‘Bia’. This year, Terri’s first song, “On Me” was released the same day Larry Gaaga dropped his “Low” collaboration with WizKid, and this really affected the performance of Terri’s song.

On the other hand, some Wizkid fans are of the opinion that even Wizkid seldom promotes himself, as he spends few of his time online. They also pointed out that Terri needs to put himself out there as much as possible, and stop forming ‘Wizkid’, because he is nowhere near his level yet.

Here are some reactions of fans regarding this issue:

Is Wizkid to blame for Terri’s average performance in the Nigeria music industry or Terri himself needs to focus more on branding and his online presence, as much as he is focused on his craft?
