Well well well, it turns out Manchester United are pretty good in those games against other elite sides, eh?
Tottenham Hotspur simply couldn’t cope with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men last night and it was mightily impressive to see. The tempo was set from the get-go, and aside from a stupid mistake which allowed Spurs to equalise, the Old Trafford outfit were dominant.
I always harp on about how important winning the midfield battle is, but last night, United did jus that – even in Paul Pogba’s absence. No doubt massive credit will (rightly) head Scott McTominay’s way. I do want to single out Fred for some praise, though.
The Brazil international is slowly finding his feet at United and last night was certainly another step in the right direction. He kept things ticking over nicely, wasn’t afraid to take risks and more often than not, played the right pass.
Sure, he’s a little rough around the edges and you always feel as though he’s got that killer mistake in him, but given a real run in the team, he’s starting to show why the club spent £50million to sign him.
