JAMB to monitor 2020 UTME with drones

On Thursday, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board reveals plans that the board would make efforts to deploy drones as surveillance to monitor 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede unveiled plans during stakeholders meeting which held at the Congo Conference Hotel, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna State.

He said the reason for drones suggestion is because the the CCTV cameras are not doing enough as fraudsters were tampering with the cameras for the purpose of cheating.

He added that the act was being carried out with the help of the board’s technical official during the conduct of UTME.

Oloyede said the board had 613 Computer-Based Test centres and in addition the drones and CCTV cameras would be deployed to curb perpetrators planing examination malpractices in all the approved centres for the 2020 UTME.

He warned tutorial classes operators to go far away from all the 613 CBT as he noted that most of the tutorial class operators and aid examination malpractices.

“They are the centres for corruption in examination malpractices in the country,” Oloyede said.

He had warned that anyone caught would be made to face the full wrath of the law.

Professor Oloyede warned parents to go away from UTME centres, adding that parents too encouraged their children or wards to cheat during examinations.

“No third party is allowed,” he had warned.

Oloyede conclusion that only candidates that were biometrically verified would be allowed to write the 2020 UTME.
