Donald Trump has reignited his spat with Justin Trudeau after Canada’s national broadcaster cut the US President’s cameo out of the movie Home Alone 2.

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) recently aired the 1992 Christmas film but viewers noticed that Trump’s scene had been cut out.

CBC said the decision had been made before Trump came to power in a bid to save a total of eight minutes from the 120-minute movie for commercials.

The President attempted to make light of the edit, saying: ‘The movie will never be the same! (just kidding).

But he went on to make a jibe about Canada’s Prime Minister and retweeted an article which said the move amounted to ‘censorship.’

His son Donald Trump Jr also branded the edit ‘pathetic.’

The US President has always said he was ‘honoured’ to be part of the film, starring Macaulay Culkin as main character Kevin.

In the uncut version, he appears briefly in a scene in New York’s Plaza Hotel where Kevin asks for directions after being forgotten by his family.

He stops a man wearing a long black overcoat and a red tie to ask him how to get to the lobby.

‘Down the hall and to the left,’ says Trump.

The real estate mogul had purchased the Plaza Hotel in New York at the start of the 1990s.

CBC defended its decision to edit the scene out, with spokesman Chuck Thompson saying: ‘The scene with Donald Trump was one of several that were cut from the movie as none of them were integral to the plot.

‘These edits were done in 2014, when we first acquired the film and before Mr Trump was elected president.’

But many on social media accused CBC of making a politically-motivated decision.

Relations between the US and Canada are growing increasingly prickly as Trump clashes with his counterpart over international financial commitments and trade.

At last month’s Nato summit in London, Prime Minister Trudeau could be heard laughing about Trump and how he derailed parts of the event by an impromptu press conference.

Trump hit back, calling the Canadian politician two-faced and said Trudeau was angry because Canada had been asked to pay more money towards the military alliance.

After the Home Alone film edit, Trudeau was once again in the line of fire from Trump who hinted he was behind the edit.

Trump tweeted: ‘I guess Justin T doesn’t much like my making him pay up on NATO or Trade!’

Trump has made a number of cameo appearances in films, including Zoolander and Ghosts Can’t Do It.
