A video of Post Malone performing recently caught the attention of fans on Twitter.
In the clip, the 24-year-old sings his hit song I Fall Apart and seems to be giving an emotional performance, briefly stumbling and rolling on the floor.
Fans online thought the singer may have been intoxicated, though his crew have insisted that he is fine and the antics seen in the video are merely a part of his performance.
Smitty, who DJs for Post Malone (born Austin Richard Post), shared an Instagram story seemingly in response to the video that caused concern, reading: ‘Posty is fine. This is his stage presence. Had no doubts.’
In the story shared by the DJ, there were comments on the video by Post Malone’s manager Dre London, opening act Tyla Yaweh, and Carnage.
Carnage commented ‘He’s just vibin…not that serious,’ to which Dre London responded ‘[precisely] brother. All vibez.’ (sic)
Smitty himself wrote, ‘lo ya’ll buggin wtf,’ and Tyla Yaweh said ‘Chill my brother living his best life.’
In the video, while singing the lyrics ‘oooo I fall apart,’ from his song I Fall Apart, the rapper falls to the ground, with perfect timing. He then crouches, leaning his chest close to the floor.
For the rest of the chorus he is down on one knee, his voice matching the emotional lyrics and tone of the song.
Fans started sharing the clip early on Friday, with one writing ‘Post Malone has been acting “weird” on stage…I’m not trying to assume anything, but he looks like he’s under drugs.’
‘Spread this video,’ the account @2020thought_ continued. ‘We lost too many artists over overdoses.’
Though there is no evidence the Rockstar singer was under the influence, many fans responded to the video and took his actions of appearing to stumble and struggle stand as cause for concern.
Another user @hummusspread wrote ‘He really looks like he’s struggling and someone needs to let him have a break. He’s not well man.’
Another user was not concerned, suggesting the style was typical part of his live shows.
One user and fan @JakeLindner said ‘He’s fine. Everyone upset has never seen him live.’
‘He’s also a rockstar and goes crazy during A.) his song called literally “Rockstar” which is exaggeraing the lifestyle and that’s why he goes crazy on stage,’ he continued.
Adding: ‘He goes crazy on his huge hits but also is able to slow down and play instruments/ focus/ be normal.’
Post Malone himself has not responded to the concern by fans over the video filmed at a recent concert.
However, his father Rich Post appeared to address the concern on Twitter, posting a video of the rocker’s February 27 show in Washington, D.C.
‘I’m getting tired of it y’all. What does this video say? Coherently playing the guitar while simultaneously singing? Seems a lot harder than accidental slips and stage theatrics.’
He added: ‘I don’t want to come across as dismissive to those of you who have expressed concern about Austin [Post Malone’s birth name].’
‘Your sincerity and kindness regarding him is certainly heartwarming and appreciated,’ Post said.
Post Malone is currently in the middle of his third headlining tour, the Runaway Tour for his third studio album, Hollywood’s Bleeding.
The tour began in September and will go until July 2, taking him 10 countries for 75 shows.
Hollywood is Bleeding was released September 2, becoming his second number one album and recording the second biggest first week album sales of any 2019 album.
