SoundCloud has introduced new features such as a Donation Button, Repost by SoundCloud and Shortcuts along with initiatives to help artists on its platform amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
SoundCloud has a new feature that offers artists on the platform the ability to add a ‘Donation Button‘ on their profile. All they have to do is go in the Edit Menu on top-right corner of the profile where they can add links to the button.
The button can be configured in a way where it redirects the fans to portals like Paypal, Patreon or Kickstarter. Through the donation button, fans will be able to directly support the artist and SoundCloud doesn’t take a cut.
SoundCloud has introduced a cross-platform repost feature through its new marketing and distribution engine. Through ‘Repost by Soundcloud’, artists will be able to “distribute music to Spotify, Apple Music, TikTok and Instagram and every major music service around the globe.”
Repost by SoundCloud is meant to help artists remain independent and still avail services like professional marketing and monetization services that includes the ability to copyright claim content on platforms such as YouTube.
According to SoundCloud, the service will be available with its Pro Unlimited subscription plan and can also be separately purchased for $30/year. The service will have its own priority chat to interact with support and Split Pay to easily pay collaborators. It even has a premium version, Repost Select by SoundCloud.
SoundCloud has recently been helping artists better connect with followers. Not too long ago, the company also introduced a ‘Shortcuts’ feature through which, followers were able to see which artists have posted/reposted tracks on their profile.
