As Nigeria is about to commemorate Democracy Day on the 12th of June, the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has given instructions to the Zonal Assistant Inspectors General of Police and Commissioners of Police in all states and the capital territory to deal with anyone or group that may want to constitute a threat to internal security order.
He urged the Nigeria Police Force to be civil when dealing with the citizens during the celebration. The IGP gave clear commands during the meeting in Abuja that they should undertake a major operation to clear all confiscated vehicles off their stations. He gave a warning that any departmental head, zonal commander, or commissioner that failed to comply with the directive will be dealt with as he will be going on tours.
Addressing the issue of tainted glasses, he issued that SPY plate numbers and tainted glasses permits are suspended. He also issued a ban on mounting roadblocks across the federation as he has heard reports some commissioners of Police are still doing so.
