
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, said the continuous synchronization of National Identification Number with SIM cards the nation over will assist the country with effectively recognizing individuals, including the law breakers.
He, consequently, asked Nigerians to completely take an interest in the activity which he said will give an advanced system to improving security and fortifying the economy.
Buhari talked while introducing the National Policy for the Promotion of Indigenous Content in Nigerian Telecoms Sector and Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Cards enlistment at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The President said appropriate ID, all things considered, and legitimate occupants in the country and the capacity to helpfully get to a data set would give a driving force to more compelling arranging and security oversight.
“The NIN will cover one of the shortcomings in our security structure. We will actually want to handily distinguish and know the character of Nigerians. We will recognize individuals effectively, including the hoodlums,” he said.
The President said the introduction of the Revised National Digital Identity Policy for SIM Card enrollment was opportune and would uphold endeavors to upgrade security and build up the economy.
“The National Identification Number is the primary advanced ID for the country; both Nigerian residents and legitimate inhabitants are required to get the NIN. It will give admittance to taxpayer driven organizations and will give government helpful bits of knowledge that will empower us to use scant assets in a more productive manner,” he added.
