Effective March 1, 2023, the U.S. Mission will extend the validity period of visitor visas from 24 months to 60 months for Nigerians wishing to travel temporarily to the U.S for business or tourism. This visa validity extension will give Nigerians the ability to use the visa for 60 months to make short trips to the United States for tourism or business purposes before having to renew it.
As stated in the official statement, the visa application fee will remain at USD160 and will not be affected by the extended visa validity.
The U.S. Mission recently implemented No-Interview Visa Renewals for individuals who meet the eligibility criteria, and appointments for No-Interview Visa Renewals are readily available. This is one of several initiatives taken by the United States to reduce visa appointment wait times in Nigeria.
According to the No-Interview Visa Renewal policy issued by the embassy, Nigerian citizens who are physically present in Nigeria and have a valid, multiple-entry visa in the same classification as their current application, which expired within the past 48 months or will expire within the next 3 months, may be eligible to apply for a visa renewal without an interview. Furthermore, all passports covering the entire period since receiving the previous visa and the passport with the most recent visa must be presented.
